Dr. Connie Pearson serves as the Headmaster of Tennessee Temple Academy. She has served in that capacity since June 2006. After several years of teaching K-12, both in Christian and public schools, Dr. Pearson served for more than thirty-two years at Tennessee Temple University. While there she taught and then served as the Dean of the School of Education and for more than eight years, she was the Vice President for Academic Services. In January 2003, she and her husband moved to Largo, FL, to serve at ACE Ministries. Dr. Pearson served as the Executive Director for Educational Services, primarily focused on the revision of ACE’s curriculum. As part of her duties she served as the Headmaster of the Lighthouse Christian Academies in Largo, FL, and Dallas, TX, successfully taking those two schools through SACS accreditation. In January 2004, the Pearsons moved to Lynchburg, VA, where Dr. Pearson taught in the Graduate School of Education at Liberty University and then as the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness. God then, in spring 2006, led the Pearsons back to Chattanooga.
Dr. Pearson’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tennessee Temple University in 1967, a Master of Science in Education from Illinois State University in 1970, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee in 1990.
Originally from Wheelersburg, Ohio, Dr. Pearson moved at the age of 10, with her family to Chattanooga, TN, for her father to attend Tennessee Temple University. As a young preacher’s kid, she lived in Festus, Missouri, and Peoria, Illinois. Her early years of teaching were in Peoria, Illinois, and then in Chattanooga. While teaching at TTU and at TTA, she met her husband, Ted, who is from Tuscaloosa, AL. He served as the manager of the printing ministry at TTU for more than 20 years, then was in business for himself, and now is free lancing in local printing businesses.
For many years Dr. Pearson has spoken at Christian and public educators conferences throughout the East and Midwest. Her expertise in reading and language arts has made her a popular speaker in many venues.
The Pearsons have two sons. Mark is the IT manager at Grandview Hospital in Jasper, TN. He and his wife, Sarah, have the Pearson’s two beautiful grandchildren, three-year old Micaiah and 4-month old Cherith Brooke. Their younger son, Jay, lives in Largo, FL (between Clearwater and St. Petersburg). He is a manager-in-training with Enterprise Car Rentals, and his wife, Katrina, is an accountant with Cardinal Health. |
