“Since the triumph of evil is accomplished when good men do nothing, my goal is to teach good men to do ‘something’.”

Mike Hill

My name is Michael Gene Hill, Sr.  I was born in DeKalb, Illinois in 1948.  My parents were called to the mission field of Dutch New Guinea, came to Temple and attended for two years and then we left for the mission field by boat in 1956.  I grew up and was saved on the mission field.   My Mom homeschooled my sister and me through 6th grade.  I attended high school at Morrison Academy in Taichung, Taiwan, graduating in 1966.  I attended Tennessee Temple College and graduated with a B.A. in history and met and married my wife, Delores Reid, a student nurse at Erlanger who was attending the Highland Park Baptist Church.  After school, we moved to Florida and I began my teaching career teaching history at Providence Christian School in Riverview, just east of Tampa.  While there I also coached varsity soccer, winning four state championships.  I was also our school guidance counselor for eight years.  I was awarded the Al Janney Excellence in Teaching Award as the top high school teacher in 1988 in the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.  While in Florida I earned an M.S. degree in secondary education from Pensacola Christian College.  The Lord arranged for us to move to Chattanooga in 1989 after which I began teaching at TTA.  I am certified to teach history, geography, government/economics, and Bible.

The Lord blessed my wife and me with two sons (now grown and married and living in Chattanooga, too) and just recently with our first grandson, Aedan Patrick.  This year I will complete 20 years at TTA.  My life verse is Isaiah 40:31.
