Jeremy Sexton, James Kemp & Nathan Rector (game 10)
A number of Tennessee Temple players performed well in Friday’s season-ending 20-16 victory over David Brainerd. That said, it was tough to single out just one player who played at a higher level than any other.
For that reason, three players were selected as Player(s) of the Week for Week 10: Jeremy Sexton, James Kemp and Nathan Rector.
Sexton accounted for 203 total yards (72 rushing, 73 receiving, 58 passing) and two touchdowns (a 64-yard pass reception and a 49-yard run) on offense and also tallied a season-high four solo tackles on defense.
Kemp hauled in a career-high six catches for 119 yards, including a 58-yarder from Sexton on a halfback pass, and also tallied seven solo tackles. Even those numbers don’t tell the whole story as he came up with clutch catch after another, either setting up touchdowns or keeping drives alive with key, tough catches on third down.
Rector finished with 164 yards passing, including the 64-yarder to Sexton, and was also credited with a team-high 10 tackles (7 solos).
“We had a lot of guys play well, but those three guys really stood out,” Temple coach Caleb Marcum said. “Jeremy is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, and he showed that again (Friday). As for James, he made some really tough catches that helped us sustain some drives and take time off the clock in the second half. Nathan threw a couple of picks, but overall he had a very good game. I thought he did a good job of managing the offense, and he stood in (pocket) and made some good throws. That one (TD) pass to Jeremy was perfect.
