FCA Leadership Breakfast

Ten student athlete leaders from Tennessee Temple Academy and several coaches recently attended the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership breakfast which was held at Wally’s Restaurant in East Ridge. There were over 130 area middle and high school student athletes in attendance representing public and private schools from Hamilton, Meigs, Grundy, Walker, Bradley and other area counties. “I can see the benefit of what we as athletes in our school can do through FCA to make a spiritual difference in our school,” stated Brooke Johnston, a rising junior. “I think FCA will help me become a better leader,” said Donovan Jones, a rising 7 th grader. “Even though we have some good people in our school, there is always room for more growth,” said Marie Jordan, rising 8 th grader. Jeremy Sexton, a rising junior looks forward to the challenge of being in FCA. “It gives us the chance to use our talents to bring glory to God while having fun at the same time.” “If the right students got behind FCA it would be that one spark that would ignite our school for Jesus,” stated FCA Captain, senior Emily Land. Those also in attendance were Ryan Chastain, Wendi Gomez, Ben Montgomery, Josh Reaves, Ben Morris and Philip DePrimo. Huddle Coach Rob Eldridge, who serves as the Development Director for Temple Academy is excited about the potential FCA has at Temple. “FCA is a proven program designed to reach our athletes in order to mentor and challenge them spiritually. Just as our athletes need sport coaches to improve and prepare them for a game in their life, these same athletes need spiritual coaching to prepare them for the game of life. You can never have enough of the right mentors.”
The speaker was Heath Eslinger, wresting coach at Cleveland High, who gave a message challenging students to step out in faith and be radical for Christ rather than living in fear and mediocrity. The praise and worship was led by the Brainerd Baptist Praise Team
