HIGHLAND PARK PAPER RECYCLE PROGRAM IS A SUCCESS

Chattanooga Tenn . -Jan. 26, 2007- Through the efforts of Tennessee Temple Academy students and parents, Highland Park residents and the local community, the Highland Park paper recycling program has been a great success.

“The 40 yard container has been dumped four times since the beginning of the project, which means about 12 tons of paper have been collected in less than four months,” says Rob Eldridge, director of development for Tennessee Temple Academy. “People are coming by at all times of the day and night to deposit paper. We even have parents from other schools bringing paper to work and giving it to parents of our students to bring in. That proves that it is working.”

The recycling fever has spread to include aluminum cans, which the senior class has adopted as their senior project. To date, they have received and recycled over 5,000 cans. The proceeds will go towards their senior trip. Tennessee Temple Academy students are also volunteering to help the City educate the public about recycling through Recycle Right.

“At TTA, we are doing our part to educate our students on the importance of recycling and encouraging them to participate,” says Eldridge. “It is a way for us to give back to our community and let the community know about the well-rounded education we promote in our students.”

The paper products are collected through a partnership developed with Rock-Tenn.
