Girls Elementary Basketball

The elementary girls basketball team is coached by Mike Erhart. Coach Erhart teaches high school math at Temple Academy and also coaches varsity volleyball. This season for the elementary girls will be a challenge, due to the fact that Temple Academy did not have an elementary girls basketball team last year. The team will consist of 4^th - 6^th graders, but will be competing against schools that have predominantly 6^th grade only teams. The goals of the team will be focusing on fundamentals and focusing on getting better.

We held Boyd to 2 first half points. That is great defense. The ladies were pushing the ball toward their help and their teammates were helping. Great job ladies!

The parents have had a great attitude all season! This afternoon they cheered loudly and positively as our ladies saw a nice lead cut down to two points before finally putting the game away. Thanks parents, relatives and friends for all of your support this year.

Game Summary:

The ladies lead 6 to 2 at the half and increase that lead to 9 to 2 in the fourth quarter. But Boyd did not go down without a fight. They cut the Temple lead to 11 to 9 before Jessica Erhart and Wuendy Gomez each finished on their lay-up attempts to give the final score of 15 - 9. The victory gave Temple third place in the ISC B tournament. Boyd had beaten the Crusaders previously during the season, but Temple showed how much they had improved by winning when it most counted.

Our Elementary Boys team has had an outstanding season. We have the No. 1 seed in the "A-bracket" and we're scheduled to play Friday night at 5:15 p.m. at Grace Academy. The Elementary Girls has had a good season as well and due to their strong season finish, they have placed as the No. 2 seed in the "B-bracket"! The Girls play on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Senter School. Please come out and support both the Boys and the Girls teams during this exciting post season tournament!

Ellen Shiraef continues to get better and better with every game. She is starting to think very well on the defensive end of the floor. On the offensive end she is taking the ball hard to the hole and making good passes. She was all over the court tonight and was definitely scrapper of the game.

Fany is a tremendous athlete. The effort she puts forth on both ends of the court is unbelievable. Tonight she had to play with a lot of pain, and she did just that. She worked hard, did not complain, and had a great attitude during the game.

Impressive Play of the game:

Wuendy was the leading scorer tonight. She had more than one impressive play. She had many nice finishes tonight, both from the perimeter and down low. She was asked to guard one of their best players and did so very well

Game Summary:

Temple was down at the end of the first quarter 1 - 0, but the answer with 10 second quarter points and lead at the half 10 - 7. Temple broke the game open in the third quarter by buiding its lead to 18 - 8 going into the fourth quarter. The ladies are continuing to improve, and they are becoming very exciting to watch. Their next game will be tomorrow at Vance Gym versus Grace at 10:00 AM.

Madison had more than one impressive play! She stole the ball on many occasions, and brought the ball down the court well many times.

Game Summary:

Temple was able to get a win against St. Peters. Temple lead 14 - 2 and never looked back. The large lead that they were able to complile allowed the younger players to play the entire second half. The younger players were very impressive with their teamwork. Each player was attempting to get other players to score. Temple\'s next game will be tomorrow night versus St. Jude's fifth grade team. The game will be at Vance Gym and will start at 4:00

Jessica maintained a great attitude, even though her game was off just a little. She worked hard and tried to do what the coach told her to do.

Ellen was dribbling down the right side of the court on a fast break. Her teammate Fany Gomez was running down the left side. No one thought Ellen saw Fany. Wrong! Ellen took the ball down the right side of the key, jump stopped and made a perfect bounce pass to Fany (who scored).

Game Summary:

Temple led at half time 8 -4, but could not garner the win. The game was tied late in the fourth quarter, but Lookout Valley was able to pull ahead in the end. The girls play next on Monday, January 22nd at Vance Gym at 6:00 versus St. Peters.

Erin saw a little more playing time than usual, and responded with a great game. She constantly was where she was supposed to be defensively and was very aggressive going after the ball. She played a great game.

Due to sickness, Brittany had to play the entire game. She was very tired and sore, but she played hard and had a fanastic attitude. She had eight rebounds and took some very good shots on the offensive end of the floor.

Madison has improved a lot this year. In this game, she attacked the basket by dribbling and took a good shot.

Game Summary:

Temple played a very good St. Jude in a tough manner. Temple lost to St. Jude 32 - 6 approximately a month ago, but this game was different. At halftime Temple was down 10 - 4, and had missed some easy shots they would usually make. Temple kept on the defensive pressure, but St. Jude eventually wore them down. The final score was 22 to 8. Temple continues to improve. Their next game will be this Thursday at Silverdale at 3:30.

Wendy made a fade-away shot on the baseline in the fourth quarter to help the Crusaders close the lead to eight. It was a very nice shot.

Game Summary:

Temple played its second game in as many days, and it showed. Although at times the ladies played hard, they were obviously tired. Temple was able to pull within eight (20 - 12) with about three minutes left in the game, but that was the closest they would get. The Temple ladies are continuing to improve with each game.

Hannah played a very strong game. Most of her scrappiness took place on the offensive end of teh court instead of the defensive end. She went hard after the ball and took some solid, timely shots.

Madison played very hard during the time that she was in the game. Her attitude was great and she worked hard on both ends of the court.

Fany had more than one outstanding play. She had countless, impressive steals. Her ballhandling has improved tremendously this year. She had some nice moves with the ball that froze the opposing defender.

Game Summary:

Temple played Berean much better than the first time the two teams met. Temple was actually within six points early in the fourth quarter, 12 to 6, but Temple could not capitalize on steals they were getting. It was a great defensive effort, and the offense is not far behind.

In a game when you are not scoring points and the other team has a large lead, attidutes can be a problem. Ellen did not let her surroundings affect her; she maintained a good, solid, Christian character the entire game.

Erin has continued to become more and more aggressive. This has been most obvious on the defensive end of the floor. On one specific play, Erin aggressively went after the ball and "tied up" a Grace player. This forced a jump ball.

Game Summary:

Although when a person looks at the score of the Temple Grace game, they would think that Temple was dominated. This was not true. Actually, Temple took more shots than Grace, and the shots were good shots. Nothing fell. On the defensive end of the floor, Temple worked very hard. They are becoming better and better at seeing the ball and their man.

Abby, singlehandedly, forced Berean into a five second call. She pressured the point guard at the top of the key and allowed no penetration. It was a great display of heart and desire.

Game Summary:

Berean lead 4 - 2 at the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately, Temple could not muster any more of a threat the rest of the game. Temple falls to 4 - 5 on the season.

Abby played her heart out and also played with her head. She had a great attitude the entire game. When things were not bouncing her way, she fought back. Her key steal iced the game for Temple.

Jessica was able to finish a shot in the paint that gave Temple its final lead 12 - 10. Danielle Edens made a nice pass to Jessica as she was cutting to the hoop. Jess jump stopped and nailed the shot.

Game Summary:

Temple improved its record to 4 - 4 by beating Oakwood at Oakwood 14 - 12. The Lady Crusaders led 10 - 3 at the half, but Oakwood fought back and tied the game at 10 - 10 going into the fourth quarter. Temple then held Oakwood scoreless for the rest of the game, while scoring two baskets of their own. Temple's next game will be this Friday at Vance Gym versus Berean Academy at 6:00
