Caleb Marcum is Tennessee Temple Academy’s new Athletic Director and Head boy’s basketball coach.
Marcum was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where he attended high school at Calvary Christian Academy until his sophomore year. After relocating with his family to Chattanooga, Tennessee, he attended Tennessee Temple Academy for two years and graduated in 2000. During his short tenure, Marcum was a finalist for Mr. Temple and won an All-District Honor his senior year in basketball. He lettered in both basketball and baseball.
Marcum then attended Tennessee Temple University and graduated with a degree in History/Political Science in 2004. While at the University, he was a starter on it’s national championship team which went 30-4. His senior year, Marcum achieved All-Region Honors and was the defensive player of the year.
After college, he joined the faculty of David Brainerd Christian School where he spent two years coaching basketball, football, and baseball. Last year he taught at Silverdale Baptist Academy, where he also served as the head baseball coach, assistant football coach and head middle school basketball coach.
Coach Marcum was saved at a very early age, but never really saw a change in his life. At the age of 12, Caleb re-dedicated his life to the Lord and surrendered his life to Christ. In 1998, Caleb was baptized at Highland Park Baptist Church where he now is a member.
Marcum is married to Kara and they have one daughter Jade.
QUOTE: “I am looking forward to the opportunity of being the Athletic Director at Tennessee Temple Academy. As Athletic Director, I will strive to lead this program with integrity, loyalty and respect. My goal for the athletic department is to base success on winning and training young people for Christ. It is my intent to hire godly, qualified coaches, raise funds for financial stability and bring all of our sports to a championship level.
As boys’ basketball coach I will strive to continue the winning tradition.
I am honored to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Kevin Templeton, Dan Wadley and Kevin Skogen. I owe each of them for their influence in my life. My goal for the boys’ team is to train and instruct these young men to be winners, not only on the court but also in life, through Christ, as we strive to be Tennessee State Champions – again! I am honored to be Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach at TTA.”
