On Saturday October 28, 2006, a group of TTA’s FCA attended the area wide FCA Game Day which was held at CCS. 10 area FCA huddles were represented from South Pittsburg to Cleveland which amounted to about 110 participants. We participated in the 1 st Annual Rennick Relay which was a 9 station progressive athletic event where each group member had to do an event and then pass a baton to the next student and so on and so forth. The events were in order leap frog, wheel barrow, toilet paper roll, 10 pushups and 50 yard sprint, soccer cone dribble, bunny hop, three legged race, football throw and the final event was a 400 meter run around the track. In the first heat TTA won second place assuring us into the final round. In the final round we came in second place, 5 seconds behind first with Mr. Eldridge “attempting” to run the 400 meters in a last minute switch.
Afterwards, we went back into the gy m where we sang and worshipped for 15 minutes with a duo praise team. Our speaker, Chris Shepherd, was a former professional football player called “Shep” who had driven up from Atlanta to speak. He gave a powerful 30 minute testimony in which 3 students came forward to receive salvation and over 15 re-dedicated their lives. This was followed by an interpretive dance/drama presentation by New Beginnings Church, to a song that talked about a girls struggle with the things in life that were keeping her from Jesus. It too, was very powerful and emotionally moving.
After eating as much pizza and cookies as we could stomach, we proceed on to Finley Stadium to watch UTC play Elon. A good time was had by all who attended. When asked, the consensus was that what was liked the most was the message from “Shep”.
